Is it possible to fully renovate a run-down fibro shack into a high-end four-bedroom family home in just eight weeks?
Well, we’re about to find out as the ladies from Three Birds Renovations pull on their boots to pull off their fifth house transformation.
The trio – Lana Taylor, Erin Cayless and Bonnie Hindmarsh – plan to make this three-bedroom Baulkham Hills home into a four-bedroom, two-bathroom, family home with dual living zones and large outdoor area.
The original floor plan will be thrown out the window to create a more modern-style layout with open plan living.
The new plan will feature a master suite with walk-in robe and ensuite bathroom, the main bathroom will be repositioned and the kitchen moved to the rear of the house where it will adjoin a large open-plan lounge that leads out on to an outdoor deck.
“What we’ve started with is a traditional fibro cottage,” Hindmarsh says.
“I think with this property what I’m trying to achieve is to be mindful of the era of the house, so I don’t want to come in and make everything ultra, ultra modern.
“We just want to be sensitive to the house and make really what is an already beautiful home even nicer.”
The trio say the property already had a great number of features – high ceilings, big block and a great location – which they will look to enhance.
The Birds are renowned for their light, bright style with neutral tones, but have already signalled their intention to move a way from this and incorporate more colour into the design and styling.
“I feel extremely excited and I can’t wait to see what happens,” says Taylor.
“There’s going to be a lot of curve balls along the way … but it’s going to be fun.”
