It’s all go for Papagayo!
If you’re looking for something a little different from Mekong Merchant or The Boat House for a family lunch, give Papagayo a try.
Their French-Mediterranean menu is simply mouthwatering and a fantastically priced children’s menu, with all their all-time favourites like marguerita pizza and spag’ bol’, keep them happy whilst parents can enjoy a glass of red with a medium-rare steak.
I wasn’t intending to do a review on Papagayo that Saturday afternoon but the place charmed me so much that I couldn’t resist. The entrance leading to the restaurant itself feels like a beachside resort with pebbles and sand lining your way and greeted by a sea of palm trees and other green pleasures.
The children’s menu was the first thing that assured me this place was a great choice that afternoon. For 105,000 VND, the kids get a two-course meal with a drink. Mine went for the pizza, which was large enough for two adults sharing, and the other ordered the beef burger (without bun) and fries, ice cream and a peach syrup.
Whilst the children happily went through their generous lunch portions, we enjoyed our set lunch (ranging from 295,000 VND to 350,000 VND) consisting of a flame-grilled steak and mashed potatoes for ‘him’ and a marina seafood pizza with a side italienne salad for ‘her’. With a dessert (creme brûlée ) and coffee to finish off, we were a happy bunch.
I noticed a good selection of wine too but didn’t make any notes for this review, which I hadn’t planned on writing. My apologies, gives me a good reason to return!
If you’re looking for a place with authentic home-cooked food with generous servings of Mediterranean influences, this could well turn into a regular weekend hang-out for the family!
