A NEW immersive 3D technology for virtual real estate marketing is here.
Matterport’s 3D Space software uses a 3D camera to photograph a property, and when uploaded online it allows the user to move through a space naturally as though they were visiting the property in person.
Red-Hill-based agency Calibre Real Estate is among the first real estate agencies in Brisbane to implement the technology into their marketing strategy.
Calibre co-founder and agent Justin Hagen said he hopes it will increase interest from international buyers, including Chinese investors.
“We now have the ability to showcase our properties through virtual reality,” Mr Hagen said.
“This device is able to capture every detail of the property (offering) interstate and overseas buyers a realistic walk-through inspection, without physically being present.
“This takes away the uncertainly of just relying on images, particularly as it is hard to always get a feel from the size of a space from just an image.”
Mr Hagen said the technology will also assist with time-poor buyers and off-the-plan sales, as buyers will be able to walk through a developer’s showroom using the software and virtual reality goggles.
Team leader at REA Group Luke Chadwick said there had been a recent shift in consumer behaviour, where buyers were after more information.
“Providing (information) from an agency perspective can mean a great deal of benefits from winning more listings to attracting new vendors,” Mr Chadwick said.
